Course Description

The human genome project has been hailed as one of the greatest achievements in scientific history. Now the emphasis has shifted towards applying this information to real-world problems such as the development of new drugs, the creation of new diagnostic tools, and a better understanding of disease. Cranfield?s Applied Bioinformatics MSc will provide you with a diverse set of knowledge and skills that directly meet the requirements of employers in the sector. The course will equip you with the computational understanding and expertise needed to meet the growing international requirement to archive, analyse and interpret data collected from biological experiments. Cranfield?s development of a bespoke MSc has allowed our graduates to move into jobs in prestigious institutions, including the Sanger Institute and European Bioinformatics Institute. While some have entered bioinformatics companies such as PubGene and Tessella, others have chosen to move onto PhDs at top universities. Whichever route you choose, Cranfield?s MSc will provide you with the skills you need for a successful career in modern biology. The course is supported by a Masters Training Grant from the BBSRC and so we can offer fully funded (fees plus stipend at research council rates (TBC)) to our top applicants.
