AIMS This programme aims to provide a body of specialist knowledge on all aspects of the design and fabrication of microelectronic devices and systems. This advanced-level knowledge will provide the much-needed bridge between a general undergraduate degree in electronics and employment in the semiconductor and associated industries, or an advanced-level research degree. PROGRAMME DESCRIPTION You take five compulsory modules (75 credits), two optional modules (30 credits), course work (15 credits) and an individual project with dissertation (60 credits). Compulsory modules cover: advanced VLSI design systems-on-chip test strategies reconfigurable hardware design semiconductor device fabrication and semiconductor electronic devices. Optional modules may include: mobile and cellular communications signal processing and estimation optoelectronics and power electronics. Assessment is by written examination at the end of each semester, course work, and a project and dissertation conducted in association with industry or a member of academic staff.
