Course Description
Technology, Design and Environment School of Arts The MA in Contemporary Arts and Music is one of four taught postgraduate courses for artists, composers and interdisciplinary practitioners offered at Oxford Brookes University (alongside Contemporary Arts Social Sculpture and Composition and Sonic Art). These interdisciplinary courses broaden awareness of cross-art-form concerns, question the boundaries of contemporary art practice, provoke shifts in perception, and engender work with relevance to contemporary life. You will also have the opportunity to spend a semester at the Bauhaus University in Weimar. You will take two compulsory modules: Creative Strategies explores ways of generating contemporary and cross-art form work, sonic art and related expanded art practices. Research and Development gives the opportunity to develop project proposals through research and exploration. You will also take one specialist module: either Contemporary Practice in Art and Music, Theories and Practice of Social Sculpture and Composition and Sonic Art. These modules allow you to explore your conceptual concerns and develop your technical skills as they relate to a specific aspect of creative practice. We offer a range of courses to help you meet the academic and English language entry requirements for this course and also familiarise you with university life. You may also be able to apply for one student visa to cover both courses.
