Overview

The Charter sets out the expectations that Collyer's aims to meet. In March 2008, the college was judged as “Outstanding” in it's Ofsted Inspection. Following on from this, LSIS have awarded the college “Beacon Status”, which provides public recognition of the excellence and innovation which exists within the Further Education system. It is awarded to providers that deliver outstanding teaching and learning. In addition, the college has held the Investors in People standard for over 10 years.STUDENTS can expect:a)Before your application, we provide accurate information about the following:the college's examination courses, entry requirements, admission policy and application procedures, non-examined courses, religious education, recreational activities and other college activities examination results and other information about the college's performance This information is provided in the admissions prospectus. Further guidance and advice is available at the Open Evenings held at college in November. Details are available from the college on request.b)When submitting your application you can expect:guidance on the type of course suitable for your needs fair and efficient handling of your application information and advice on support available for those with learning difficulties, physical disabilities or those requiring financial support Details of the admissions arrangements can be found in the prospectus. Details about enrolment in September are given during the Welcome Day and summarised in the Student Enrolment Handbook.c)Once enrolled, you can expect to have:well qualified and professional staff, appropriate rooms and equipment access to the Learning Resources Centre, study areas and Information Technology facilities support for your learning and regular reviews of your progress advice on Progression regular help and guidance from your personal tutor equal opportunities regardless of gender, religion or ethnic background appropriate support in the event of your having any specific learning difficulty or disability appropriate support in cases of financial difficulty opportunities for prayer and worship regular information bulletins and information on college activities Each student is given a Student Diary which gives relevant information and also provides students with a convenient means of planning and organising their studies.PARENTS can expect:information about the way the college operates and what is expected of the students involvement, during the enrolment process, in discussions on any additional support (learning, physical or financial) required to meet the needs of their son/daughter a regular record of progress and the opportunity to meet teachers at Parents' Evenings a termly newsletter on college activities contact with the college in the event of there being any cause for concern a prompt response to parental enquiries Information on these matters is given in the Parent Handbook.EMPLOYERS can expect:information about students and former students applying for employment co-operation in the provision of suitable places for their employees on those courses which the college is able to offer COMPLAINTSIf you are not satisfied with the service provided by the college you should contact the college and you can expect a prompt response. Students should in the first place speak with their Tutor or with their Head of House.
