Background to the CollegeA College was first formed in Yeovil in 1887, when Somerset County Council began formally organising Science and Art classes. In 1947 the first Principal was appointed to lead the Yeovil Technical College. In September 1974 secondary education in the Yeovil Borough was reorganised and Yeovil became one of the early tertiary colleges to be formed in England.Yeovil is a tertiary college serving communities in South Somerset and North and West Dorset. We work closely in partnership with:Yeovil Federation (of primary and secondary schools and the College) Bournemouth and Exeter University through the UCY Yeovil Vision The College turnover is around £16m and we provide learning opportunities for over 8,000 learners.Mission Statement"Inspiring and leading our community through excellence in providing learning solutions and pathways for progression"VisionTo be recognised as an outstanding college To be recognised as a leading college for delivering blended learning Our Community and our role as a Tertiary CollegeYeovil is a tertiary College serving its community in South Somerset and North and West Dorset. As a tertiary College we will provide education and training pathways at all levels from entry to HE.We will focus upon:6th Form:Including:16-19 year olds seeking progression to university or employment 14-16 year olds in partnership with schools Adults/19+Including:First full level 2 and 3 programmes Full cost, leisure and programmes leading to further access Yeovil College Training:Including:Work-based Learning (Apprenticeships) Business Development (bespoke training for business) Professional and vocational learning for adults through responsive and accessible programmes University Centre Yeovil (UCY):The provision of university level education to lead, support and raise aspirations in the South Somerset and North & West Dorset economy.
