Welcome from UCLan Our Burnley Campus is now in its third year. You will be studying in the heart of beautiful Pennine Lancashire on an iconic campus in the Knowledge Quarter of Burnley. I hope that you will take full advantage of the fantastic resources that we have to help your study, teaching and learning, sports and recreation. The campus is very supportive and friendly. Class sizes are small, and you will get exceptional academic and personal support. We always get high numbers of students achieving First or 2:1 honours degrees and distinctions. This exciting development builds on many years of working successfully with Burnley College in delivering foundation degrees and other UCLan courses. The University forms part of a campus close to the centre of Burnley and incorporates the Sixth Form Centre and the Skills and Adult Centre offered by Burnley College. The combined campus offers state-of-the-art facilities for the provision of further and higher education to the people of Burnley and the surrounding area. The campus plays an important part in the overall regeneration and development of Pennine Lancashire, alongside other major transformational projects. Some of the most vocational courses in the UK We offer many innovative and vocational programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate level; many have been designed specifically to meet the needs of the local economy and community. Other courses have a national and international appeal. We are very proud that some of our course titles are the first to be offered in the UK. You can complete full honours degrees on the campus. There are also opportunities for postgraduate study, and support will be given to those students planning to set up their own businesses. Research in Pennine Lancashire There are two key themes to the University’s research provision in Burnley: Advanced Manufacturing and Social Cohesion. Research centres will support undergraduate programmes as well as more advanced study, research and consultancy. Our Advanced Manufacturing Centre includes a £500,000 investment in robotics, non-destructive testing, RFID component tracking and SAP (one of the foremost software environments for controlling the manufacturing process). These research centres add important national and international dimensions to the UCLan Campus in Burnley.
